Miredys Peguero

 Singer, songwriter, model, and beautiful actress Miredys Peguero (also known as "M"), is widely known for being multitalented and hardworking. Her first album "Simplemente Miredys" reached an incredible audience eager and anxious to wait for a second album. Miredys' dedication and ongoing perseverance transported her to a new world filled with opportunities. In fact, she even opened a concert of Beyonce in Monterrey, Mexico during "The Experience Tour". Miredys has also collaborated with artists such as Foxy Brown, Lionel Richie, and LL Cool J. Miredys had decided to move to Los Angeles a few years ago. That step took her to a new dimension... also making her debut as a business woman!

On a personal note, I began admiring the work of Miredys when we took an acting class together back in High School. Our teacher back then, Elsie Moreau, was a great inspiration and resource to keep all aspiring  minds going and up to date on everything. She helped foster independence by encouraging others to utilize and put in action their creative capabilities. And last but not least, she was also a wonderful mentor. One of her goals was to reinforce her students' skills on  how to deliver an optimum performance and how to portray oneself in front of an audience.

1. A young lady like you, driven by such powerful passion and attachment to the entertainment industry is considered a perfect fit for today's modeling, film, and television demands. At what point in your life did you realize that you carried those traits in you?
AS FAR AS I CAN REMEMBER I ALWAYS ENJOYED ENTERTAINING PEOPLE AND BEING THE CENTER OF ATTENTION. I REMEMBER BEING LIKE 7 YEARS OLD AND INSTEAD OF PLAYING AROUND I WAS REHEARSING CHOREOGRAPHY WITH MY SISTERS AND FRIENDS SO THAT WE COULD PERFORM IN FRONT OF OUR PARENTS AND COMPANY. IT WASNT UNTIL I WAS 13 THAT I WAS OFICIALLY INTRODUCED TO THE MODELING WORLD BY MY HAIRSTYLIST. LATER ON I MET THE PERSON WHO ULTIMATELY INTRODUCED ME TO THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY.

2.How did becoming a first Runner-up in Miss Puerto Rico Universe 1999 opened you the doors to a new world of opportunities?
IT REALLY GOT ME THE EXPOSURE I NEEDED TO BRANCH OUT OF JUST BEING A MODEL. I ALWAYS KNEW I WANTED TO HAVE A VOICE AND BE RECOGNIZED FOR MY OWN TALENT. THE PAGEANT GAVE ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO SHOW TO THE THE WORLD WHO I REALLY AM. I GAINED EXPOSURE  THROUGH ALL KINDS OF OPPORTUNITIES I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW EXIST WITHIN THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY. IT ALSO HELPED ME TO GET RECOGNIZED AND BUILD A GREAT FAN BASE WHICH STILL SUPPORTS ME TODAY AND WHICH I RECOGNIZE AS BEING THE BACKBONE OF EVERYTHING THAT I DO.

3. Tell us about the casting process that in which you were selected to appear in "The Parkers". How did the producers express interest in you? Also, how do you describe the dynamic that you shared with the other actors on the set?
FOR THE PARKERS I ACTUALLY WENT IN TO READ FOR THE PRODUCERS FOR ANOTHER CHARACTER 1ST.THEIR PROCESS WAS VERY IMTIMIDATING CAUSE YOU WALK IN TO A ROOM FULL OF PEOPLE. THEIR ENTIRE WRITING STAFF PLUS THE PRODUCERS WERE THERE SO IT WAS CRAZY!!! IT WAS MY 1ST TV AUDITION SO IT WAS SOOO OVERWHELMING. ALTHOUGH I FELT GOOD ABOUT MY AUDITION THEY DIDN'T BOOK ME FOR THE PART BUT LATER ON THEY CALLED MY MANAGER AT THE TIME AND BOOKED ME FOR A CHARACTER THEY HAD WRITTEN JUST FOR ME. I PLAYED A RECURRING ROLE AS AN EXCHANGE STUDENT CALLED AMIRA.THE VIBE ON SET WAS GREAT. THEY WERE ALL REALLY NICE TO ME SPECIALLY MO'NIQUE WHICH PLAYED ONE OF THE MAIN CHARACTERS (MOST PEOPLE KNOW HER NOW CAUSE SHE WON THE OSCAR FOR THE MOVIE "PRECIOUS"). SHE WAS SO WELCOMING AND GAVE ME GREAT ADVICE WHILE ON SET. I'LL ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT. I COULDNT  HAVE ASKED FOR A BETTER EXPERIENCE TO JUMP START MY CAREER IN HOLLYWOOD.

 4. I understand that you are a business woman now as well. Congratulations for that! Can you share with us what you are currently running and where we can find more information about it?

ASIDE OF MY SINGING CAREER AND MY NON PROFIT ORGANIZATION I JUST BRANCHED OUT INTO THE BUSINESS WORLD WITH MY ACCESSORY LINE CALLED M ACCESSORIES. PEOPLE THAT KNOW ME KNOW THAT I LOVE ACCESSORIES. IM ALWAYS WEARING EARRINGS, RINGS.... THAT'S WHY WHEN IT CAME DOWN TO IT I KNEW THAT MAKING ACCESSORIES WOULD BE IT.  WE CREATE TRENDY, YET AFFORDABLE  ACCESSORIES FOR THE WOMAN THAT WANTS HER INDIVIDUAL STYLE. WE HAVE A LIL' BIT OF EVERYTHING FROM BRACELETS,TO EARRINGS, TO HAIR ACCESSORIES, CEL PHONE ACCESSORIES... YOU NAME IT. WE HAVE IT. IM INVOLVED IN THE ENTIRE PROCESS.

ITS MY VISION FROM START TO FINISH GUIDED BY A GREAT GROUP OF CREATIVE MINDS THAT MAKE IT ALL POSSIBLE. WE BRANCHED OUT THE LINE IN PUERTO RICO AND INTRODUCED IT TO THE U.S WITH OUR BEST SELLER "THE MULTISTYLER", WHICH IS A WIRE BAND THAT CAN BE WORN IN A VARIETY OF WAYS. THIS SPECIFIC ITEM IS REALLY TAKING A LIFE ON ITS OWN.

IT'S GETTING A GREAT RESPONSE ALL OVER. NOW WE ARE IN STORES AROUND CALIFORNIA, PUERTO RICO, HAWAII, NY, AND WILL SOON HAVE OUR HOME ON THE WEB AS WELL. WE KEEP EXPANDING EVERYDAY SO I'M VERY EXCITED ON ALL THE POSSIBILITIES I HAVE WITH THIS.

5. Now this is my favorite part of the interview... Are there any other public figures out there that you identify yourself with and consider  that they have been a major influence and inspiration in becoming who you are today?

I'LL ACTUALLY HAVE TO SAY BEYONCE. SHE'S VERY RESPECTED BY HER PEERS.SHE'S EVEN MY AGE! SHE'S WORKED VERY HARD FOR THE CAREER THAT SHE HAS TODAY. SHE TAKES PRIDE AND WORKS REALLY HARD ON HER CRAFT (SINGING AND WRITING). SHE'S A COMPLETE ENTERTAINER. SHE'S BEEN ABLE TO INCORPORATE HER SIDE PASSIONS AND  SHE DOES INTO A WELL RECOGNIZED AND CREDIBLE BRAND. I ASPIRE FOR THAT KIND OF DRIVE AND RESPECT  FOR WHO I AM AS AN ARTIST AND A PERSON EVERY SINGLE DAY.

Exclusive interview with Obehi

Obehi has transformed her own life into a beautiful melody with her inspirational performances. The talented R&B singer takes very seriously what she does. As a matter of fact, she is absolutely not scared of being herself at all times. Her honesty and passion are two elements in her life that are particularly driving more fans to her. Her  fascinating website illustrates and portrays her achievements and support from loyal fans and admirers. Now let's see what Obehi has to share with us today!


1. Tell us about how your career and interest for the music began: Were you one of those kids that used to hold a toy microphone and sing along their favorite songs  24/7?

Oh no, the opposite! I was really shy growing up - a real closet hairbrush singer. My interest was sparked by watching pop artists perform and I was consumed with the desire to be on THAT stage. I used to daydream of performing to my audience, but back then it seemed like a fantasy. One day I realized that the artists I watched...Britney, Christina, Beyonce...they all started like me...they were once kids who transformed their dreams into much much more.

2.Who do you consider is your biggest influence in the R&B industry and why?

If I had to pick just one I would say Beyonce. She is an amazing performer and works really hard at what she does. I find that really inspiring. It makes me want to work harder, fight harder and keep improving and getting better at what I do. Being a performer for me is like being an athlete and great athletes strive to be the best.

3. Do you write your own songs? If so, do they talk about your own stories?                Yes, I do write my songs - they're about things that I empathize with; things that I have witnessed and I always take from my emotions, putting myself into my songs. Writing for me is very unscripted and I can be inspired by anything and everything.

4. Are you ready for Frankenstein live?  Tell us about that intriguing event! (Interview was made a few days ago)

Definitely!! I am so excited. It is going to be one of my longer sets performing my debut EP and my new EP which is out February next year.It’s going to be a night of live music from myself and some other great bands. I am really looking forward to it.

5. Have you considered moving the US?

Not right now, but never say never. I love Scotland. It’s really beautiful and I love being part of a growing R&B/Pop music scene (bringing something little different to what you would normally expect). I love a good challenge.

 6.  If you don't mind me asking, what was that transition all about? It must have not been easy moving from Nigeria as a child to Glasgow. How did that impact your life?

Well I was really young so I don’t remember much about it- blame my memory of a fish. I think it impacted my life in a positive way because it means I adapt well to change and sudden changes don’t face me much.

 7. What is your favorite part of this career? What do you enjoy the most?

There are so many parts that I can’t pick just one. I love writing, playing around with my keyboard working on new tracks; I love love performing!
